National Youth Gathering

The 2016 National Youth Gathering was July 15th-20th in New Orleans, LA. Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to the next gathering in 2019!

Held every 3 years since 1980, the LCMS Youth Gathering provides thousands of youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God's people to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith, and their Lutheran identity. During the five days of the Gathering, youth spend time together in God's word, worship, service, and fellowship with others from across the synod. For more information about this event, check out LCMS Gathering

Basketball

Pastor John organizes a morning (7-9am) basketball game on most Saturdays year-round in the St. Lukes gym/fellowship hall. Depending upon numbers, full-court games are the goal each week. There is no charge to play on Saturday morning. You can come to have fun and get your sweat on. Also depending upon numbers and scheduling commitments of those playing, St. Lukes basketball group may occasionally join the Reno Rec leagues and compete with other small groups. Schedules vary, but Reno has league play almost year round. Cost is typically $50 per season, plus a one-time uniform cost of about $20. Contact Pastor John to get on the email list for updates on Saturday gym times and possible league play.

Tutoring

St. Lukes Tutoring and Mentoring program is a neighborhood connection with students and families near St. Lukes. It is a program which assesses needs, provides homework help and specific skill building in English and Math, helps develop life skills, and provides foundations for a life of faith. All tutors and mentors are volunteers who have had background checks, and are qualified to tutor and mentor students.

Our program runs concurrently with the Washoe County School District schedule. Tutoring times are from 5:30 to 8:00pm on Thursdays in classroom N-3, supplemented by two Fridays per month for other activities and trips. Van pick-up and drop-off services are available on a limited basis.

Contact Pastor John if you have questions or need more information.
