Odyssey: Virtual Reality Edition

As you’re probably well aware by now, we’re not able to hold services in our church building on Sundays for the foreseeable future due to our community’s precautions around COVID-19. This means our children’s Sunday excursions to the Holy Lands are on hold, as well. Fear not, our wonderful team of volunteers has put together a plan for us to take virtual tours together. So buckle up! Here’s where we’re headed…

Sunday mornings, worship will be live streamed at 10 am. Following, around 11 am, our Tour Directors and out team of Tour Guides will meet your travelers on Facebook for a live streaming of our Bible story of the day. This is the portion of our tour that your children will be familiar with experiencing in the Synagogue. Please encourage your children to post comments and interact. Let’s make this as fun and engaging as possible.

Please click the links below to download and print the day’s craft which your children usually complete in the Marketplace. Please take a picture and post on our Facebook page so we can all enjoy each other’s creativity together.

After our virtual tour, a link to view will be posted below so you can replay it at any time.

Additionally, one of our volunteers will be suggesting a movie of the week for you to watch together as a family. Click the title below to download a worksheet to complete along with a coloring page. We’ll be on Facebook each Wednesday with a new movie suggestion and an opportunity to share your thoughts and questions on the previous week’s movie.

As another outlet for connecting the children during these weeks of social distancing, Pastor Josh has been hosting coffee talks each weekday morning on Facebook at 8:15 am. In the coming weeks, he plans to gear at least one talk each week toward children. Check back for more details.

Pastor Josh is also letting our congregation in on his Saturday morning discipleship sessions with his own children. This is a great opportunity for you to learn how to teach your own children. Join him on Facebook at 9 am on Saturdays.

If you have other ideas of how we can support you and your children during this period where we’re not able to meet, please reach out and let us know (office@stlukesreno.org) Our goal is to foster a sense of virtual community for our children while social distancing.
